Therapeutic Ultrasound

What Is Therapeutic Ultrasound?

ultrasound

At Live Well Chiropractic, we go out of our way to deliver honest services at affordable prices in Roy and Ogden. We use spinal manipulative therapy and chiropractic manipulative therapy to foster body-brain communication. We may also incorporate other therapies to your treatment, depending on your specific needs.

Therapeutic ultrasound has been used by physiotherapists for a long time. It is said to improve:

  • Tissue relaxation
  • Healing
  • Local blood flow
  • The breakdown of scar tissue
  • Tissue heating

What Are the Benefits of Ultrasound Therapy?

One of the most significant benefits of therapeutic ultrasound is that it increases the flow of local blood. It is also a great option for reducing swelling and inflammation. Ultrasound can also be used to break up scar tissue within the body. The intensity of the ultrasound is determined by the desired effect. This therapeutic treatment is appropriate for treating tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain, and joint tightness.

Risks of the Therapy

Even though therapeutic ultrasound is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, it may have a few side effects. It is not a good option if you are pregnant or have open wounds. Your chiropractor will advice you accordingly.

Therapeutic ultrasound treatment has a few contraindications. They include metal implants, vascular abnormalities, local malignancy under the treated area, acute infection, and pregnancy. The treatment is not appropriate for children or in areas around the testes, eyes, or skull.
